The first "professional cheering" championship was held in the regional center. Three teams took part in it: girls from Uzhgorod, Mukachevo and UzhNU.
At the mini-championship, the girls performed one contest number and competed in a dance battle.
According to Sandra Slyusareva, the trainer of the Cheerleading Association of Transcarpathia, the girls want to grow and take part in competitions of a higher level. The team, that the girl is a member of, became the first cheerleading champion of Transcarpathia: the team of Uzhgorod won "gold" medals, the team of Mukachevo won "silver" medals, and the students of UzhNU took the third place.
Cheerleading is a spectacular sport that combines dance and acrobatics, and comes from France, and not from the United States, as many people think. Cheerleading is included in our rating of the most exotic sports in Transcarpathian region, along with American football and rugby, where the girls usually perform at the matches. By the way, the first Transcarpathian team is the only cheerleading team in Ukraine performing on skates – they mastered them to support athletes at hockey matches.
