Today in Uzhgorod, there was the presentation of a mobile planetarium, established at the Space Research Laboratory of UzhNU. This is the first mobile planetarium in Western Ukraine.
The planetarium was opened in the framework of the project under the program of cross-border cooperation HUSKROUA / 1101/105 Pl@NETour – creation of scientific and tourism products and network infrastructure for scientific tourism in the border areas of Maramures and Transcarpathia.
According to the head of the Space Research of UzhNU Vitaly Yepishev, classes will also be held at the planetarium. "That is, it will not be just a place for tourists. The project will allow to explore starry sky wider. For this purpose, there are laboratory works, and it is difficult to find time to show the starry sky through one telescope – it really depends on the weather. And here, though the sky is artificial, but practice session can be held in any weather, and several dozen people can watch it at the same time."
The planetarium will show the relationship between astronomy an other sciences: mathematics, physics, geography, chemistry. To increase the interest of young students in astronomy, digital environment will be used: multilingual website, blog of the project and software applications for smartphones and Android.
