The traditional sixteenth power tournament "Carpathian Bear" was held in Uzhgorod.
Strongmen from Uzhgorod, Mukachevo, Velyky Berezny, as well as Lviv and Donetsk were competing in front of the Regional Philharmonic. The athletes were showing their strength in various exercises, in particular, according to the organizers, this year they chose a very difficult relay race: running 10 m with a 190 kg "wheelbarrow", throwing 4 different items weighing 70 to 160 kg onto the platform, walking 10 m with a super-yoke weighing 360 kg, doing a deadlift with 250 kg weight.
The last exercise – "farmer’s walk" with 150 kg suitcases – determined the winner of the sixteenth Carpathian Bear. It was Volodymyr Tsyfra from Velyky Berezny, who had already won this tournament in 2016 and 2017.
This year, he was the best in three exercises. Ivan Grigorovsky from Uzhgorod took second place (won in two exercises), Oleg Pylypiak from Lviv won the third place, Mykhailo Khodyakov from Donetsk won the fourth place, and the debutant of the tournament Oleksandr Shtadler from Mukachevo won the fifth place. The winners then were awarded with prizes. The tournament was held with the support of the department for culture, youth and sports of Uzhgorod city council.
