The gallery presents embroidered and woven carpets by Petro’s mother Maria Ryaska from the village of Bilky in Irshava district, home-woven embroidered tablecloth by his grandmother Kateryna Izai, embroidery and a portrait of Petro painted by his niece Darina Ryaska, photos of the artist’s parents by Yaroslav Futimsky. And also, paintings by Petro Ryaska, which are mostly dedicated to women.
The exhibition was opened by the head of the Transcarpathian organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Borys Kuzma. Later, the perpetrator of the action, Petro Ryaska, said that this project is his dialogue with the message "Call my mother" by an unknown author, that he saw in 2015 on the sidewalk in Poznan, Poland. He immediately asked permission from friends and fellow artists, who came to the exhibition, to call his mother. He asked her how things were, said that the exhibition had opened, and thanked her.
So go see the original visual story of identity through embroidery, culture and place, dialogue with folk art, the connection with mother and place of birth. But now call your mother, family…
