"In order to determine the level of comfort, quality and safety of public transport, Uzhgorod City Council together with local trafic police organized a preventive inspection. It lasted from the 25th tthrough 27th of June" – the newspaper "Uzhgorod" informs.
The report states the following. "Under current legislation of Ukraine, the organizer of the city transport – Uzhgorod City Council – within its competence, exercise permanent control over the quality of transportation, – the specialist of transport, public procurement and communications department of Uzhgorod City Council Heorhiy Drashkotsi said.
– Under the order of the Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Pogorelov, we conducted a detailed inspection of vehicles carrying out passenger transportation. Following the inspection, we can say that overall, 93% of vehicles that carry out public transportation in the city are in good condition."
In case of detection of minor violations, drivers were warned and asked to remedy the shortcomings. If violations were gross, traffice policemen imposed fines.
"During the inspection, we drew up reports on drivers whose vehicles had technical problems – the senior traffic inspector in Transcarpathian region, major Vitaliy Khromey says. – Some vehicles were sent to the impound lot, since their technical condition did not meet the rules of road safety."
