Bucharest also reacted to the ban on entry into Ukraine for the leader of the Hungarians in Romania

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested the Ukrainian party to explain the ban on entry for the leader of the Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania, Hunor Kelemen.

This was reported by the "Yevropeiska Pravda" referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was informed that the Ukrainian authorities on April 6 had not allowed deputy Hunor  Kelemen to enter the country. Mr Kelemen himself notified the Minister of Foreign Affairs about this incident in a telephone conversation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the Ukrainian embassy to explain the reasons for the decision," – the Ministry reported.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania noted that admitting foreign nationals into the country is the exclusive competence of the Ukrainian authorities, diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine do not have any part in this procedure.

"Such decisions can be appealed in the Ukrainian court exclusively by the interested party," – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania stated.

As you know, due to the incident with the ban, the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the ambassador of Ukraine in Budapest.

Recall that on April 6, Hunor Kelemen tried to cross the border of Ukraine with the Romanian diplomatic passport, but was not allowed to enter.

According to him, he was going to Uzhgorod to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia (KMKSZ). In his comment to the Romanian publication Mediafax, Kelemen said he had been banned from entering Ukraine until October 13, 2020.
