Brazen attack on a pensioner in Uzhgorod: details (VIDEO)

Yesterday, July 16, at about 5 pm, the police received a report of a daring robbery that took place on Kapushanska Street in the regional center of Transcarpathia. 
At the scene, the police found out that an unknown person had attacked a 75-year-old pensioner, inflicted bodily injuries on him, took his purse with documents, money and a mobile phone. 
The victim of the crime was taken to a medical facility for necessary assistance, and the police began searching for the criminal, who dared to attack an elderly man in broad daylight. 
Within minutes, patrol police officers detained the criminal – a 39-year-old previously convicted resident of the village of Shyshlovtsi, Uzhgorod district. The police confiscated from him the stolen mobile phone. The pensioner also recognized his attacker and confirmed to the police that he had been robbed by the man they had detained. 
Currently, investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 187 of the Criminal code of Ukraine, that is a robbery. 
The victim is feeling well and was taken home. 
The attacker, in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, was placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigators, under the procedural control of the prosecutor’s office, are preparing the necessary materials to indict the detainee and will ask the court to impose a pre-trial restraint on him.
