Brawl in Rakhiv: One of the offenders attacked police officers with a knife

In Rakhiv, during the making of a record of a street fight, one of the persons involved in it, being in a state of intoxication, attacked police officers with a knife. To stop the attacker, the policemen had to use firearm and special devices. The hooligan was detained and a pre-trial investigation was launched over this incident.
Yesterday, on January 8, at about 9 pm, Rakhiv police received a report of a fight.
The patrol police response team arrived at the scene. When the police were questioning the victim, an unknown man wearing a hood with a knife appeared. Screaming "I’ll kill you!", the man rushed at the policemen. He stopped only after one of the police officers used weapons, making a warning shot into the air.
The attacker was arrested, handcuffed and taken to the police station. The instrument of the crime – the knife – was seized.
The hooligan was a 24-year-old resident of Rakhiv. The young man was drunk, according to a medical test, there was 2.15 ppm of alcohol in his blood.
This incident was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, the preliminary legal classification is Part 1 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer). The circumstances of the incident are being established by investigators at the Rakhiv Police Department. The choice of pre-trial retraint is being decided.
