During his trip to Transcarpathia, the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak visited the border guards at the Border Guard Unit "Uzhgorod".

The Chief of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Service, Lieutenant-General Arthur Gorbenko and the Head of the "Uzhgorod" unit Lieutenant-Colonel Volodymyr Zubal presented the work of the unit, which protects part of the Ukrainian-Slovak border. They briefed the Chairman of the Parliament on the nature and specific tasks performed daily by border guards on the entrusted stretch of the state border, on the results of operational performance, as well as on the conditions of the unit’s operation.

Then, the head of the legislature went to the international checkpoint "Uzhgorod", where the border guards presented latest means of telecommunications and border control, which are used in daily service. In addition, Mr. Rybak was shown all-terrain vehicles, portable and mobile thermal imagers, mobile border control complex "Potok-A" and a mobile special unit. The work of border guards’ quadrupedal friends was not gone unnoticed either: a Belgian Shepherd of the "Malinois" breed demonstrated how to detect weapons and ammunition in vehicles efficiently and without fuss – the press service of the Chop border guard detachment reported.
