Border guards on the European side still catch contraband from Transcarpathia

Despite all the loud statements about "closing the border" and "blocking smuggling channels," our neighbors (from the European side of the border) still catch offenders who go from here.

Thus, at the Ukrainian-Slovak border crossing point "Maly Berezny – Ubl’a", Slovak customs officers of the finance service criminal department found 10 kilograms of amber in a car driving from Ukraine.

The contraband was carred by a 31-year-old Petro K. and a 35-year-old Ivan B. from Ukraine.

And on Thursday, in a forest near the village of Ubl’a, two kilometers from the Slovak-Ukrainian border, Slovak police detained a Transcarpathian with 400 packs of smuggled cigarettes "Jin Ling" without excise stamps.

The approximate cost of the contraband seized by customs officers of Michalovce amounts to almost 8,000 euros, Slovak media reported.
