Border guards of Ukraine and Romania jointly prevented two attempts of cigarette smuggling

As part of the measures to counter cigarette smuggling across Ukrainian-Romanian border being taken by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment together with Romanian colleagues, this weekend two attempts of cigarette smuggling were prevented.

     Thus, in the area of the Border Guard Service Department "Dilove", the police found two packages of tobacco products, which the smugglers probably tried to deliver to neighboring Romania.  The border guards immediately informed their Romanian colleagues about that, after which they examined the approaches to the border and reported that they had found no signs of border violation on their side.

     Border guards of the department "Solotvyno" detained on the bank of the Tisa river a man in a wet diving suit. Later, during search activities, near the place of detention, border guards found six packages of tobacco products. Border guards immediately informed their Romanian colleagues about the detention. After that, opposite the place where the offender was detained, they found boxes of tobacco products.

    The detainee was a 40-year-old citizen of Ukraine. A report under Art. 204-1, Part 1 of the CAO was drawn up. The actions of the offender will be considered by court.
