"Recently, I have often heard that people saw on Transcarpathian rivers / lakes a black bird, very similar to the stork. I read it in Facebook, heard from friends. When they began to mention Uzhgorod city and district in these stories, I had to take a camera and go see what it was about.
After spending two days and having walked a dozen kilometers along the Uzh river, I finally managed to capture what people were talking about. And I did it not somewhere off the beaten path, but right in front of the PADIYUN, standing at the water’s edge.
Within just 10 minutes, I saw at first two, then one more bird. The closest one flew about 150 meters away from me. I made a series of photos. Not particularly good ones, because of the distance. However, the photo quality was enough for identification. Pictured below is really the black stork (Latin: Ciconia nigra). And I am very surprised by this. The most cautious bird of all that I know is on the river right in the heart of the bustling city.
In the near future, I will try to find time and sit in an ambush with a camera. Hoping for better pictures. In the meantime, here are these three photos," – Oleksandr Bogdanov wrote under the photographs.
