Beregovo district profits from tourism the most in Transcarpathia

This conclusion can be drawn from the data of the SFS on payment of tourist tax in the region.

In general, since the beginning of the year, tourists have enriched Transcarpathia by almost one million hryvnias: during the first two months of 2019, 986 thousand hryvnias of tourist tax was paid to local budgets of the region. This figure increased by UAH 304.6 thousand compared to the corresponding period of 2018.

In terms of districts, the leader is Beregovo district – 338,900 UAH, followed by Svalyava district – 174,000 UAH and the city of Uzhgorod – 95,600 UAH.

The current legislation clearly defines range of tourist tax payers and its limit. According to Art. 268 of the Tax Code, payers of the tourist tax are citizens of Ukraine, foreigners and stateless persons who arrive on the territory of the administrative-territorial unit, where, by the decision of village, town and city council, the tourist tax is set, and receive temporary accommodation services with the obligation leave the accommodation within a specified period.

Representatives of the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region stress that Transcarpathia has a great tourism potential and is an attractive region for investors. It is imperative that funds already received and to be received are used by local councils for the development of individual settlements and the region as a whole. Because developed infrastructure and various attractions will not only increase the flow of tourists, but also contribute to the growth of revenues to the budgets of local communities.
