Beer smuggling: Transcarpathian customs officials seized 48 liters of beer from a Ukrainian

A citizen of Ukraine drove a minibus Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 519 to the customs post "Uzhgorod" and underwent the customs control in the "red corridor". During the oral questioning, the Ukrainian denied carrying any products in amounts that are subject to written declaration, customs payments and statutory prohibitions or restrictions on carrying across the customs border of Ukraine. During the customs control of the vehicle, customs officers found 106 beer cans with a total volume of 53 liters.

The found goods belong to the first – twenty fourth group of the Harmonization Code System. Ukrainian customs legislation prohibits the import of such goods for free circulation. Thus, the citizen of Ukraine did not provide to the customs authority accurate information about the goods being carried by him across the customs border and subject to mandatory declaration and restrictions for moving across the customs border of Ukraine.  These actions have signs of violation of customs rules under Article 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.  

At present, the report on violation of customs regulations has been drawn up, 5 liters of beer were allowed to be taken across the customs border of Ukraine, 48 liters were seized until the final court decision.
