Because of the “cigarette stash” a Ukrainian lost his minivan

Specially made hiding place with six holes under the seats in a minibus "PEUGEOT BOXER" could not conceal over 1,200 packs of cigarettes from customs officers. Our countryman failed to carry tobacco products hidden from customs control in his vehicle across Ukrainian-Slovak border.
Going from Ukraine to Italy, a 26-year-old driver at ​​customs post "Uzhgorod" declared only a small amount of currency and personal belongings. During oral questioning he claimed to carry no hidden objects. However customs officers decided to make in-depth inspection of the van.
As a result, under the front seats in the bottom of the van, they discovered a hand-made stash with six holes, which contained 1208 hidden packes of cigarettes of various domestic brands. The stash was covered with metal lids and sealed with electric welding device.    
           A protocol under Article 483 Part 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was written. Cigarettes worth 13 300 UAH and the minibus (worth 65 000 UAH), which was used for transportation of the hidden goods, was seized until the court decision.
