Because of ice-covered ground, a Transcarpathian driver hit an 8-year-old boy and his mother

The police are ascertaining the circumstances of the accident in the village of Iza in Khust district, during which the driver of a "Volkswagen Passat" injured an 8-year-old boy and his mother.

Yesterday, December 19, in the village of Iza, because of ice-covered ground, a car "Volkswagen Passat" after breaking, drove into the oncoming lane and ran into two local residents: an 8-year-old boy and his 29-year-old mother.

Officers of Khust Police Department found out at the scene that the driver of the "Volkswagen Passat" with Czech registration lost control, hit two pedestrians and drove into the fence.

As a result of the accident, the child and his mother were taken to hospital. The woman was discharged after medical care. According to the preliminary diagnosis, the boy sufferred a closed head injury, fractured anterior third of the right thigh and knee, and blunt abdominal trauma.

The driver was taken for test for blood alcohol content, the car was taken to the impound lot of Khust Police Department. A criminal proceeding over this incident will be initiated under Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is violation of traffic safety.
