Because of a reprimand, a 19-year-old caroler almost killed a car driver

Irshava court imposed a pretrial restraint in the form of detention on a 19-year-old resident of the village of Hreblya in Irshava district, who in the evening on January 7, being in a state of intoxication, broke a man’s skull with a  wooden stick

At Christmas, in the evening on January 7, an incident, that could have ended tragically, occurred in the village of Verkhnya Roztoka in Irshava district.

Around 20.40, a car VAZ-2115 driven by a 40-year-old resident of the village of Mala Roztoka was driving on the main street of the village. The man and his wife were returning home from a nearby village. On the way, they met carolers who were walking on the roadway. The driver stopped and reprimanded them. The young men did not like that. One of the carolers, a 19-year-old resident of the village of Horbok, while being intoxicated, first climbed on the hood of the car, preventing the driver from moving on. Then he hit the driver on the head with a wooden stick and broke his skull.

The victim was taken to intensive care. The attacker was arrested by the police. Criminal proceedings under Art. 121, Part 1 (intentional grievous bodily harm) and Art. 296, Part 1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine have been initiated. The detainee was notified of being suspected of committing criminal offenses.

On January 10, Irshava court, at the request of the investigator approved by Khust local prosecutor, imposed on the defendant a pretrial restraint in the form of detention without bail.

The 19-year-old resident of Irshava district faces imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years. Pre-trial investigation into the case is ongoing, investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the crime.
