Be careful, there are scammers in Transcarpathia

The police once again warn citizens. Scammers, likely from other regions, are working in Transcarpathia. To avoid becoming their victims, do not start conversation with suspicious strangers in the street. And do not let strangers to your house.

An 84-year-old retiree from the city of Uzhgorod became a victim of unknown fraudsters. In broad daylight, on the street in the center of Uzhgorod, the old lady met strangers, a man and a woman. They asked how to get to the regional hospital. When she explained where the hospital was, the strangers started a conversation with her. They said that their relative was in the hospital and he urgently needed money for surgery. So they asked the good lady to lend them some money promising to return it.

The trusting pensioner brought the strangers to her home. When they left, the old woman found out that a large amount of money was missing from the house.

Realizing that she had been robbed, the victim called the police. Law enforcement officers are searching for the fraudsters.

A similar situation occurred in the village of Dunkovytsya in Irshava district, where an 59-year-old woman with a disability became a victim of unknown fraudsters. The crooks introduced themselves as employees of the Red Cross and offered the woman cheap medicine. The woman gave the strangers $ 300, after which they fled…
