Baloha requires the PGU to investigate "the use of criminal methods in the election campaign by pro-government candidate" in the constituency number 70.
Leader of the "United Center", Minister of Emergency Situations of Ukraine, candidate for people’s deputy of Ukraine in constituency number 69 Victor Baloha appealed to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka to "immediately investigate the use of criminal methods in the election campaign" by pro-government candidate in constituency number 70 Mykhailo Lanio.
This was reported by the press service of the "United Center."
Statement of offense
October 24 I held meetings with voters in Mizhhirya district of Transcarpathian region in support of the candidate for people’s deputy of Ukraine in constituency number 70 Oleksandr Kemenyash. After the events, while returning to the city of Mukachevo, unknown persons in 4 cars blocked the road which I was moving on.
Employees of the State Security Department, who accompanied me, addressed to unknown individuals demanding free passage. Instead of that, an unknown person came out of one of the cars and said that the candidate for people’s deputy from the Party of Regions in constituency number 70 Mykhailo Lanio, known as crime boss nicknamed "Blyuk", wanted to see me.
Assessing the situation, the security guards decided to free the way by themselves. Using their car as a battering ram, the security pushed one of the blocking cars off of the roadway and freed the way.
I request the Prosecutor General of Ukraine to immediately investigate this fact and the involvement of the aforesaid person in the incident. I believe that such criminal methods of election campaign discredit the authorities, challenge the legality of elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and undermine the credibility of Ukraine as a legal and democratic state.
