Starting from September, families will be receiving "baby boxes" – one-time irrevocable targeted social assistance upon the birth of a child.
In accordance with the Government resolution, the boxes will be provided by regional state administrations. The procedure for financing the provision of the specified assistance was also approved: the department of social welfare of the RSA is defined as the main spending unit of the subvention from the state budget, the press service informs. A "baby box" (costing about 5 thousand hryvnias) will be made up in accordance with the list of children’s products approved by the Ministry of Social Policy.
As the Deputy Director of the Department of Social Welfare of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Natalya Omelyanyuk said during the briefing, the "baby box" kit will include the things necessary for the baby during the first months of life. Preliminarily, the package will include a blanket, diapers, bottlles, baby formula, and clothes. The exact list is still to be approved.
According to the operational data, 4220 pregnant women are currently registered in the region and they expected to give birth during September-December this year. Since last year about 12% of pregnancies in the region ended up with the birth of several children (mostly twins), about 4,700 children are expected to be born, and their parents will receive "baby boxes" upon discharge from maternity wards.
