The government decided to suspend the process of preparing for the conclusion of the Association Agreement with the EU.
The relevant order was made public on Thursday.
"To suspend the process of preparing for the conclusion of the Association Agreement between Ukraine, on the one part, and the EU, the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States, on the other part, and the effect of the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 18, 2013 "On the preparations for the signing of the Agreement on Association between Ukraine, on the one part, and the European Union and its Member States, on the other part," – the order states.
According to the order, this decision was taken "in order to take measures to ensure national security, a more detailed study and elaboration of measures to be taken to recover lost production volumes and directions of trade and economic relations with Russia and other countries – members of the CIS"
In addition, the order refers to "the formation of an adequate level of internal market which would provide parity relations between Ukraine and the countries – members of European Union, which is a fundamental principle of international law and the basis of the state economic security."
Azarov instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Industrial Policy to offer the EU and Russia to form a trilateral commission to work out the issues.
"To resume active dialogue with the Russian Federation and other countries of the Customs Union and the states – members of CIS on the revival of trade and economic relations in order to maintain and strengthen the economic potential of the state," – the order states.
The order was signed at the time when Yanukovych was telling journalists about Ukraine’s efforts for European integration in Vienna.
And at this time in Russia, the President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is ready to participate in tripartite negotiations Russia – Ukraine – EU.
