Today, on Zankovetska Street in Uzhgorod – on the segment from Secheni to Hrushevsky street – a two-way traffic for passenger transport was opened as an experiment. The Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv arrived there in the morning, talked with patrol policemen, asked them to pay special attention to this street for a few days in order to prevent accidents or conflicts.
Police officers talk to drivers, explain that two-way traffic has been opened, that they need to watch for road signs.
Yesterday, the city utilities installed appropriate road signs to prohibit stops of motor vehicles and unauthorized parking.
Recall that the decision on test introduction of a two-way traffic on Zankovetska street, which was recently repaired, was adopted at a recent meeting of the executive committee of the City Council. The purpose is to improve the vehicular traffic on the streets of the city and to unload parallel streets.
The issue was previously considered at the meeting of the commission for road safety and coordination of motor transport. Other parts of Zankovetska street, already have two-way traffic.
During the month of the experiment, the effectiveness of this transport route will be assessed, the press service of Uzhgorod City Council informs.
