Attention: On March 20, 2020, public transport operation in the territory of Uzhgorod will be suspended

As of March 20, 2020, the operation of public transport in the territory of Uzhgorod will be suspended (temporarily). This decision was made today at the extraordinary meeting of the Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations, which was chaired by the Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv.
Before the meeting, Bohdan Andriyiv met with the carriers working in the city. According to the monitoring of transportation over the last few days, less and less people are using urban transport, which is understandable given the quarantine measures implemented in Uzhgorod. Therefore, yesterday there were fewer buses running. However, in the morning and evening, it is extremely difficult to provide the carriage of passengers with no more than 10 people in one vehicle, as required by the Cabinet resolution. Conflicts arise. The fines for violation of the resolution – both for the driver and the carrier – are very high: from 17,000 UAH to 70,000 UAH.
It has been repeatedly emphasized that self-isolation is the most effective way to prevent coronavirus infection, but if a person has to leave home, it is recommended to avoid close contact, the distance between people should be 1.5-2 meters. It is difficult to comply with these requirements in public transport, and to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 in Uzhgorod, the operation of public transport will be suspended.
The Commission decided to recommend businesses, institutions and organizations, regardless of ownership, to ensure transportation of employees by special buses.
