The service of border guard often entails increased risks to the life and health of the servicemen, their families, and sometimes to their own property. It is clear that criminals are not happy that law-enforcers prevent their criminal activities at the border, depriving them of unlawful income. That is why offenders resort to various forms and methods of intimidating border guards.
Thus, yesterday, there was another such attempt against a serviceman of the Chop border guard detachment. Returning in the morning after the shift, he found out that criminals had damaged his car. The windshield was broken, the tires were cut, and the rear view mirror was torn off.
There are reasons to believe that such actions are likely to be related to the border guard’s professional duties, since the serviceman has repeatedly detected smuggled goods, in particular, tobacco products.
The border guards reported this incident to the National Police and other law enforcement agencies. The persons, who are involved in this, are being identified.
