At the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian customs office, an attempt of cigarette smuggling to the EU was prevented, – the SFS in Transcarpathian region informed.
A citizen of Ukraine planned to cross the border with Slovakia by a car "VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT" with a foreign registration.
Arriving at the checkpoint, the citizen reported that he was not transporting any goods and items hidden from customs control. However, customs officers, taking into account all the risks, sent the car for in-depth inspection. As a result of the inspection, tax officials found in a specially equipped cache tobacco products worth 9334 UAH.
Thus, the citizen committed actions aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control through the use of means impeding the detection of such goods.
These actions have signs of violation of customs regulations referred to in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, under the report on violation of customs rules, the cigarettes and the car were seized.
