The traditional fourth charity ball took place on the last day of spring in the atrium of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
The purpose of the cultural and artistic event devoted to the Day of Europe and the International Children’s Day was to raise funds for the Vilshany Orphanage. Representatives of the government, diplomats, entrepreneurs and patrons, Transcarpathian intellectuals took part in it.
– It takes place only once a year – on the Day of Europe and the International Children’s Day, – the Acting Head of the Regional State Administration Yaroslav Halas said. – This year, there have been suggestions to cancel the charity ball because of the natural disaster that occurred in Transcarpathia last week. Of course, we didn’t agree. This event must be held to once again show that we are part of Europe both geographically and mentally.
This year, the works by students of the Vilshany Orphanage were presented at the charity auction. 28 art lots were sold during the bids. With the donations in the ball photo zone (9 thousand 640 hryvnias), the organizers raised a total of 235 thousand 100 hryvnias. This is significantly more than the amounts raised in previous years.
The management of the orphanage plans to spend the charitable contributions for the purchase of a woodworking workshop for their pupils.
The leading art collectives of the region performed at the ball.
