Yesterday, at the checkpoint "Vylok", border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment prevented an attempt of a Hungarian citizen to carry almost 2,000 packs of contraband cigarettes across the border.
During the joint border and customs inspection of a passenger car "Opel" driven by a 34-year-old foreigner leaving Ukraine, they found 1,860 packs of cigarettes of various manufacturers. Some of the cigarettes were without excise stamps of Ukraine. To hide the cigarettes from law enforcement, the man hid them in all wheels of his car, including the spare one. Also, border guards found tobacco products in the luggage compartment and under a decorative cladding of the car. The access to the contraband cigarettes became possible only after the dismantling of the cladding and the wheels.
The report about the detection of the tobacco products was made. The cigarettes and the foreigner’s car were confiscated.
