At night, in Uzhgorod, the police caught an armed man (PHOTOS)

An object resembling a Kalashnikov rifle was confiscated by the police from a passerby on Belinsky Street in Uzhgorod. An Uzhgorod resident was detained for illegal handling of weapons. An investigation has been launched into the incident.  
Last night, at about 1:30 a.m., patrol police stopped a pedestrian who was behaving suspiciously on Belinsky Street in the regional center of Transcarpathia. During the search, the police found a weapon in the 40-year-old man’s backpack. 
An investigative team of the local police department was called to the scene to document the offense. The man could not explain the purpose of storage and the origin of the weapon. The dangerous object was confiscated by the police. 
The violator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigators registered this incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Art. 263  (Illegal handling of the weapon) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.  
The Uzhgorod resident, who has previously been prosecuted, faces up to 5 years in prison.
