At last, thieves of manhole covers were detained in Uzhgorod

A popular type of theft in the regional center is a theft of metal manhole covers to sell for scrap. But such thieves rarely get caught. Finally, Uzhgorod patrol police managed to do it.

The patrol policemen detained three Gypsies who were stealing manhole covers in Uzhgorod.

Yesterday, around 16:00, Uzhgorod patrol policemen were called to Universytetska Street. The theft of a metal manhole cover was reported.

The thieves were 3 men who had fled in the direction of Griboyedov Street in a car VAZ.

Thanks to the instant reaction of the policemen, the described car was detained on Sobranetska Street. During the check, two metal crowbars and a pick were found in the trunk, and the men confessed to the crime.

In addition, they showed the place on Zolotysta Street were they had hidden the manhole cover. The policemen called the investigators, the cover was seized, and the perpetrators face criminal liability under part 2 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft), – the Patrol Police Office in Uzhgorod and Mukachevo reported.
