Assistance to pregnant women: Now there is a doula in Uzhgorod

Nowadays, many Ukrainian women are accompanied during labour not only by husbands but also by professional helpers.
The word "doula" is unfamiliar for many people. At the same time, those who have used such services recallect this experience with gratitude. Instead, doctors often say that a woman can get the support she needs during childbirth from her husband or mother.
In Uzhgorod, there is now the first certified doula – Ruslana Fedor:
“In our culture, it is accustomed to prepare for labour, but, unfortunately, not for the postpartum period. For us, a person, who helps a new mother, is something strange and unheard of, while, for example, in the Netherlands, this service is covered by insurance,” – Ruslana Fyodor said on her Facebook page.
The word doula comes from the Greek "slave". However, in the modern world, it is a word for women who provide emotional, informational, physical and housekeeping support during pregnancy and childbirth.
