Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will equate beer to alcoholic beverages on July 1, 2015 This is stated in the final provisions of the Law on Amendments to the Tax Code, the text of which is published on the website of the parliamentary newspaper "Holos Ukrainy".
Thus, according to the tax changes, now beer shall be defined as a foamy alcoholic beverage saturated with carbon dioxide, containing ethyl alcohol of 0.5 or more percent by volume, resulting from fermentation of hopped wort with beer yeast, belonging to the product group with the code 2203.
Recall that the tax reform in Ukraine came into force on January 1, 2015
According to the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the Cabinet of Ministers wants to raise excise taxes on retail sales of alcohol and tobacco to 5%.
