In Transcarpathia, border guards of Ukraine and Romania once again prevented smuggling of contraband cigarettes and arrested another "diver", who was likely carrying them.
The detention took place through joint operational measures, which are now being conducting by border guards of the two countries, and prompt exchange of information between the border guards.
Thus, today about 6 o’clock in the morning, border guards of the Mukachevo detachment were warned by their Romanian counterparts about the possible illegal activity near the state border. 30 meters from the border, on the Shypurka river, the response team detained an unknown person in a diving suit and found tracks of a group of people leading in the direction of the border. According to the detainee, he is a citizen of Ukraine and lives in a border district.
Border guards immediately informed their Romanian colleagues about the detention. After that, opposite the place where the offender was detained, they found boxes of tobacco products. Now, search activities are being conducted to identify accomplices of the "diver".
The detainee was brought to the Department of Border Guard Service "Velyky Bychkiv" for filtration and verification measures. Since during the detention the offender was viciously disobeying lawful demands of the border guards, the reports under Art. 185-10 of CAO and Part 1 of Art 204-1 of the CAO were drawn up against him. The citizen of Ukraine will be tried in court.
