On July 11, in the courtyard of the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum, there will be a ceremonial special cancellation of the Vasyl Gabda anniversary stamp.
The famous Ukrainian painter was born July 11, 1925 in Uzhgorod. He received professional training at the Polytechnic Institute in Budapest and in Uzhgorod Art College, where, in particular, his teachers were leading figures of the Transcarpathian painting Adalbert Erdelyi, Yosyp Bokshay and Fedir Manailo.
1958 – Member of the Union of Artists of USSR.
1980 – Honored artist of USSR.
1995 – Winner of the Regional Prize of Y.Bokshay and A.Erdelyi.
2000 – People’s Artist of Ukraine.
Vasyl Gabda was a participant in numerous art exhibitions and plein airs. Some of the artist’s works were bought by the NUAU Exhibition Directorate, the Ministry of Culture and Arts of Ukraine, are stored in the collections of the Transcarpathian, Kharkov, Simferopol art museums, galleries of neighboring countries, Kazakhstan, Canada and Japan.
The Department of Culture of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration invites to pay tribute to the artist in the circle of family, friends, colleagues and admirers of Vasyl Gabda.
