Armed conflict in Transcarpathia (PHOTOS)

According to the Communications Department of the Transcarpathian regional police, the police detained a resident of the village of Sil, who was trying to settle a conflict with fellow villagers with an ax and a shotgun. An investigation was initiated over hooliganism. 
Officers of the Velyky Berezny district police department are investigating a criminal case of hooliganism with the use of weapons on one of the streets in the village of Sil. The conflict broke out last night, at about 11.30 pm, between three fellow villagers. 
At the scene, officers of the investigative team found out that the incident occurred between residents of the village aged 31, 35 and 57 years. The men had a quarrel, which escalated into a fight. The 31-year-old man first used an ax against one of his fellow villagers and hit another one with a rifle butt. The drunken man also fired a shot from a double-barreled hunting weapon. 
The man, who grossly violated public order exposing others to danger, was detained by the police in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The 31-year-old resident of Velyky Berezny district was placed in a temporary detention center. During the medical examination, he was found to have 1.41 ppm of alcohol in his blood. 
A smoothbore rifle, an ax and shell casings were confiscated from the offender and sent to experts for examination. 
Investigators of the Velyky Berezny District Police Department opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Hooliganism with the use of weapons). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
