Archaeological research on the territory of Uzhgorod castle: the results of the first week (PHOTOFACT)

The archaeological expedition of the Uzhgorod National University, with the assistance of the administration of the Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Local Lore, continued exploring the ruins of the medieval church on the territory of the castle.

 Teachers and students of the Faculty of History and International Relations of the UzhNU (supervisor: Ph.D. Moizhes VV), as well as volunteers are taking part in the expedition.

During the first week of the works, the preparatory stage was taking place. They cleared the area of the central nave from rubble to the floor level. Already on this layer, the first individual discoveries of this year’s season were made: a church medallion and several coins of the XVI-XVIII centuries. The work continues…
