Anyone can be a rescuer: a police officer prevented a fire

One does not have to work at the State Emergency Service to to save people. Yesterday’s events that took place in Uzhgorod are a clear proof of this.
On January 28, on 8 Bereznya Street, there was a fire on the ground floor of a high-rise building. Fedir Kormosh, the head of the personnel department of the Transcarpathian Police Office, was walking home from work when he noticed smoke. The man immediately ran to warn all the neighbors about the danger. He called the rescue service at 7:30 pm.
Two crews of the 14th State Fire and Rescue Unit arrived at the scene. Since the owner of the apartment was not at home, the rescuers had to break the door in the presence of the police. After that, the rescuers extinguished the fire within minutes. Already at 7:40, the fire was completely eliminated. The fire only destroyed an electrical extension cord left in the socket and a mosquito fumigator.
The cause of the fire and the amount of loss will be established by law enforcement agencies, the SES of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region reported.
