Another unauthorized construction in the historic area in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

The regional center of Transcarpathia suffers from the development chaos. Due to the ill-conceived and sometimes barbaric actions, Uzhgorod is losing its special charm of as a city with a unique face and a valuable historical and architectural heritage. The community Save Uzhgorod, which tries to preserve and restore the historical identity of Uzhgorod, draws attention to another instance of this.

Another unauthorized construction in the historic area of Uzhgorod and in the protected area of the cultural heritage site, the community informed.

And the facts are:

"The monstrosity on Sobranetska-Hoyda has already exceeded the number of storeys specified in the construction passport. Nobody knows how many storeys there will be in the final version. Initially, the developer stated 12 floors. This limit is set out in the city planning conditions issued by the former chief architect M. Ivegesh (you can read about this corrupted officials and criminal case here: https://goo.gl/5wzio9).

However, the very presence of a high-rise building on this site is a violation of the legislation in the field of cultural heritage protection. According to the historic and architectural master plan of the city of Uzhgorod, the Maly Galagov protected zone is the area of strict development regulation. Even in a less strict II category development regulation zone there is a limit of 5 floors. Our monstorsity already has 8, and the construction continues.

"Again the city council is in anabiosis… along with the cultural heritage authorities, State Architecture and Construction Inspectorate and other malignant formations", – the Save Uzhgorod wrote.

To the right of the monstrosity, there is a three-story historic building. Coherence? Uniformity? No, never heard of that.

Visualization from the developer’s site. So far, there are 10 floors. How many there will be in fact?

Six floors from the side of Sobranetska Street – this is what the faded construction passport tells us. In actuality, there are already eight, and the construction continues.

Visualization on the building passport does not match with the actual situation and is completely different from the image of the building from the developer’s site.

Save Uzhgorod showed problem areas and brought arguments for the reaction. Will there be one?..
