Big cities all over the world have long understood the importance of branding for the development of a city, because it gives the opportunity to create a unique image of the city, increase its recongnizability, attract tourists and leave unique memories associated with this city.
On March 17, the start of public consultation was announced and Uzhgorod citizens were invited to choose the concept of the city tourist logo.
The competition for the development of concepts of the tourist logo and slogan of Uzhgorod was held shortly before the consultation. Out of 12 submitted proposals, the city council competition committee selected 5 finalists. It was their entries that were put up for general discussion.
The consultation lasted through March 30, and during this time, 1,218 Uzhgorod residents took part in the discussion. Everyone had the opportunity to express their opinion by texting a number or using the "Your Opinion" system.
The votes of the local residents were distributed as follows:
• Option 1 – 60 votes (4.9%);
• Option 2 – 376 votes (30.9%);
• Option 3 – 631 votes (51.8%);
• Option 4 – 55 votes (4.5%)
• Option 5 – 96 votes (7.9%).
As we can see, the options 2 and 3 received the most votes, the results of the public consultation will be the basis for the choice of the Uzhgorod tourist logo concept.
