The ensemble "Manyovchiki", as the Manyo family band is popularly called, also known as "Tyachiv band", has lost a member – a talented musician Yuriy Cherniavets died today at the age of 67.
So far, the cause of the musician’s death has not been disclosed, – the Zakarpatpost.net informed.
The sad news was reported by director Shaun Williams, who made a film about the Manyo family: "Today, our world has lost a great person. Yuriy was a sincere, caring and extremely talented person. He was the soul of the company, a tireless joker, who was entertaining audiences with his virtuosity and humor as part of the Manyo family band from Tyachiv (Transcarpathia). Rest in peace. Yuriy Cherniavets, 1951-2018."
This unusual ensemble has its own history. Originally it was a purely family quartet – the father Heorhiy (Yuriy) Chernyavets – a violinist – played with his son Yosyp and other members of the family.
Yuriy Cherniavets amazed the audience by playing tambourine and a homemade "film", which produces original sounds like a whistle.
