Two cases of illegal transportation of cigarettes across the Ukrainian-Hungarian border were detected by border guards of the Chop detachment at the checkpoint "Tisa" last night.
First, during a joint inspection of a truck Scania going from Transcarpathia to Hungary, law enforcement officers found a significant batch of contraband cigarettes, "Rothmans". The tobacco products were thoroughly hidden in the double bottom of the truck loaded with barrels of honey. Despite the inaccessibility of the caches, such "ingenuity" of the offenders did not help help them to outwit the border guards. At the moment, they are expected a special equipment to unload the vehicle and determine the exact number of the smuggled cigarettes.
Exactly in two hours, the border guards of the same checkpoint detected another vehicle with a similar "cargo". The cache was found by a dog Bilka. This time, our compatriot tried to transport 400 packs of cigarettes Marlboro, Winston and Glamour in the shelves above the passenger seats of a minibus Mercedes. As a result, the vehicle made in 2002 and the tobacco products were seized. The value of the confiscated items amounted to UAH 147,968 thousand.
