Yesterday, at the the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", border guards of the Chop detachment together with customs officers prevented smuggling of counterfeit tobacco products to Slovakia. Thus, a minibus "Mercedes" driven by a 45-year-old citizen of Ukraine arrived at the checkpoint for border and customs control.
Due to a number of factors, border guards together with customs officers decided to thoroughly inspect the car.As a result of joint in-depth inspection, they found cigarettes of different brands in total amount of 907 packs.
The cigarettes were hidden on the right and left sides under a decorative covering of the cargo compartment and under the headliner of the vehicle. Currently, the cigarettes were seized and estimated at over 15,000 UAH. The same fate befell the vehicle "Mercedes" made in 2004, which was estimated at over 60,000 UAH.
