An Israeli Transcarpathian believes – “Sevliush is the center of the world”

Thus the former resident of Vynogradiv Shandor Weiss, who now lives in Israel, entitled his book.  The book is not only beautiful aesthetically, it contains a lot of interesting considerations and instructive moments.  It has been published in Budapest based on the author’s own materials and photos. It is also in 4 languages ​​- English, Rusyn, Hungarian and Hebrew.

  The history of Vynogradiv is shown through the prism of antiquity – old postcards from the own archive of our countryman. His memories of life in the Jewish ghetto, which was situated in Vynogradiv on Pushkin street, are also impressive.

 
The title of the book "Sevliush is the center of the world" is not accidental. The author’s hometown is the center of his own world. Shandor Weiss was born in Vynogradiv in 1930, after a stint in the Jewish ghetto, at the age of 15 he managed to escape to Palestine. Currently he is residing in Israel. 

   Also the Vynogradiv native plans to install in his hometown a memorial plaque in honor of his family and other residents of Sevliush murdered in the ghetto.
