On August 23, at the automobile checkpoint "Tisa" of the Chop border guard detachment, border guards sent for in-depth inspection a minibus driven by a 35-year resident of Lviv region en route from Italy to Ukraine. Among parcels from migrant workers, that the driver was carrying to Ukraine, they found pills of a medicament containing buprenorphine. 99 pills were hidden in coffee drink cans. The estimated cost of this batch of drugs is about UAH 60,000.
Law enforcement officers tracked and documented the receipt of the parcel in Drohobych, Lviv region. It was received by a 52-year-old local resident, who, as it was found, intended to sell the drug.
Criminal proceeding over this fact has been opened under Part 1 of Art. 307 (illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The punishment for this crime is imprisonment for up to eight years.
The seized pills were submitted for examination. The investigation continues.
