An ingenious Ukrainian failed to smuggle cigarettes into the EU

Last night, at the checkpoint "Tisa", border guards of the Chop detachment together with customs officers prevented an attempt to covertly transport tobacco products across the state border.

The cigarettes were being transported by our compatriot from Italy in a minibus "Volkswagen – Krafter" through the "red corridor" lane. However, border guards noticed a nervous behavior of the driver during border and customs control. As a result, it was decided to conduct in-depth inspection of the vehicle. And not for nothing, because border guards found 583 packs of tobacco products of different brands in the sidewalls of the passenger compartment, in the spare wheel, which was attached to the bottom of the vehicle, and in the front door near the driver’s seat.

Currently, the cigarettes have been seized and handed over to employees of the fiscal service. Their were evaluated at more than 10,000 UAH. In addition to the cigarettes, law enforcement officers seized the spare wheel and the vehicle wirth over 300,000 UAH.
