An explosion occured in the center of Budapest. Residents and tourists are asked not to visit this part of the city

At night on September 24, an explosion occured in the center of Budapest, resulting in two policemen getting injured. It was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been established.

The explosion occurred in an abandoned window of a closed shop on one of the busiest streets of central Budapest. The doorway was ruined, windows and cars nearby were damaged.

The government so far refused to comment on whether it was a deliberate attack.

Citizens of Ukraine in Budapest are advised to be careful and not to approach the area of ​​the explosion in the city center. Also, the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary informs:

"Access to the explosion site and the surrounding streets is blocked by the Hungarian police. With this in mind, please avoid wherever possible the specified part of the city until the cause of the explosion is determined and the scene is unblocked," – the statement reads.

According to recent reports, the police are considering the explosion in the center of the Hungarian capital Budapest as a terrorist attack. Now, about 30 police officers and experts are working at the explosion site. And local media write that the explosion occurred due to gas leak.
