September 1 in Uzhhorod will be remembered not only for the beginning of the school year, but also for the opening of the solo exhibition of paintings by Transcarpathian artist, winner of the regional Bokshay and Erdelyi Prize Serhiy Biba in the hall of the Center of Slovak Culture in the school №4 with advanced study of the Slovak language. The artist titled the exhibition "The Road of Knowledge" and devoted it to his son David, who on this day went to the first grade of the said school.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod Janka Burianova, the head of the Association of Slovak artists in Transcarpathia Michael Pyiter and the head of the regional cultural and educational organization "Matica Slovenska" Yosyp Hainish.
In the conversation with us, the artist Serhiy Biba said that the works are quite fresh. He specifically selected small format works, because they are associated with children, school. As for the fact that no work has a title, he said: "What for? You can say that it is my principle, zest. When the work is captioned, the viewer intuitively looks in it for something that is in the title. And without it, they use their imagination. Especially since it is a modern."
The exhibition will last until September 19.
