An armed robbery was committed in one of Uzhgorod currency exchange offices

Investigators of the Uzhgorod Police Department are determining the circumstances of the robbery in the city’s currency exchange office. The man, who is reasonably suspected of committing the offense, was found.

Yesterday, October 26, officers of Uzhgorod Criminal Police Department found a local resident suspected of committing a robbery. The day before, around 21:00, the 31-year-old man entered a currency exchange office and, threatening an employee of the office with a gun-like object, demanded money. 

A few minutes later, the man fled from the scene. The police quickly found the suspect. During the search, law enforcement officers found a gun on the man. The weapon was seized and sent for examination.

Uzhgorod Police investigators initiated a criminal proceeding under part 3 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attack with intent to take possession of someone else’s property combined with the threat of violence, which is dangerous to life and health of a person, combined with breaking and entering).

The investigation continues, the PR department of Transcarpathian regional police reported.
