An accident in Uzhgorod: the driver of a “Dacia Logan” hid a pedestrian on a crossing and fled

The culprit of the accident was quickly tracked down by the police and is now being prosecuted.

The accident occurred on Sunday evening in the city of Uzhgorod. On Gagarin street, a red "Dacia Logan" hit a man on a pedestrian crossing. The driver fled from the scene.

The victim – a 47-year resident of Uzhgorod – was taken to the hospital traumatology unit, where doctors diagnosed him with a leg fracture and other injuries.

The police found the car with damages typical for an accident on Volodymyrska street, where its owner lives. The 37-year-old driver admitted that he had committed the accident. According to the man, he fled from the scene fearing reprisal from the victim and witnesses of the accident …

The examination showed that the driver was sober. Nevertheless, he will be prosecuted for violations of traffic rules and inflicting injury to a person.

The car is detained at the police impound lot. The investigation into this incident continues, – the communication department of the Transcarpathian regional police informs.
