Almost one million will be allocated for countering crime in Uzhgorod

The deputies voted for the Comprehensive program of prevention and combating of crime in Uzhgorod in 2017-2020. Recently, the program was approved by the executive committee. It was initiated by Uzhgorod Police Department and the executive committee of Uzhgorod city council.

Recall that funding for 4 years is UAH 3 million 760 thousand, UAH 930 thousand is provided for this year.
As referred to in the Program, today there is a tendency to increasing criminalization of the main areas of people’s life. Last year alone, there was a 12.5% ​​increase in the number of registered criminal offenses in the territory of Uzhgorod (from 3713 in 2015 to 4177 in 2016), the number of registered grave and especially grave criminal offenses increased by a third (from 773 in 2015 to 1074 in 2016). The program is developed with the positive experience of the existing similar city programs taken into account.

Its implementation will allow law enforcement agencies, executive agencies and local government to take a number of agreed measures to prevent crime and address their causes, to create favorable conditions for the work of the National Police in the city and increase their credibility among the population.
