Last night, during the joint operation "Key points", officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in cooperation with Slovak colleagues detected and detained in Transcarpathia a small aircraft, which had probably been used by smugglers to carry tobacco products.
On the day before, it had been detected by border patrol unit of the Chop detachment at the site of the department "Palad Komarivtsi" moving towards neighboring Slovakia and, about an hour later, back to Ukraine. Border guards using thermal imaging devices noticed that the unknown aircraft began lowering near the border. Border guards of the Mukachevo detachment came to the area of possible landing of the aircraft where they found the glider. Also, they arrested one person without documents equipped as a pilot probably involved in illegal activity. It is also worth noting that this person already had records of illegal activity at the border.
During the examination of the aircraft, it was founbd out that it was a two-seated trike. It is noteworthy that the navigation devices had been removed from the panel, but later were found at a distance of 200 meters from the place of detention.
At this time, the search activities on Ukrainian and Slovak sides continue.
Also the investigation team of Mukachevo District Police is working, the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.
